- Patients on Plaquenil Patients currently being treated with Plaquenil for certain types of autoimmune disorders are at risk for the development of permanent damage to the retina which may cause loss of vision. Retina Consultants has diagnostic technology which may be able to detect disease in the earliest stages, possibly before permanent vision loss. These diagnostic modalities including spectral domain optical coherence tomography and multifocal electroretinogram which are available at Retina Consultants.
